Yoga-Based Psychotherapy

…because sometimes talk therapy just isn’t enough!

If you’ve been in individual therapy before, you know it can be helpful. Learning new ways of responding to your emotions, understanding your feelings, and communicating your experiences to others brings a sense of control and agency to your life. Things feel less chaotic, less raw, and you generally know what you need to do to manage your stress.

But maybe for you, traditional talk therapy didn’t quite accomplish all that you wanted it to. Your emotions are still intense and overwhelming, and you’re easily pushed into that reactive state, ridden with anxiety or weighed down with negative thoughts. Sometimes you’re so disconnected from yourself that it’s hard to feel like a person. You know that the shame or worry spirals are happening, that your emotions are getting in the way of effective boundary setting and causing you to procrastinate or avoid the important stuff… and you know what you “should” do to get out of these patterns.

Yoga-based psychotherapy uses the science of mind-body resilience to teach you practical tools for creating inner harmony.

The thing is, changing our patterns is hard. Awareness is one thing, but making actual change is an entirely different process. Sometimes an individual therapist is enough to help us with that process–we just need some gentle coaching, encouragement, problem-solving support, and accountability. Other times, no matter how hard we try, we can’t seem to make the change stick, or things shift so slowly that we lose motivation.

Yoga-based psychotherapy offers an alternative approach to this stuck-ness, a way back into the body and mind that integrates yogic wisdom and philosophy with the traditional therapy process.

By attending to the body, heart, mind, and spirit as integrated parts of yourself, we can heal old patterns and wounds and support transformation into a more balanced, grounded state. Together, we’ll navigate the journey back to your authentic self.

Wondering how yoga practices and philosophy can really help with anxious and depressed thoughts and feelings?
